Review of MailDroid Pro

Note: The developers acknowledge a licensing issue following the recent Google Play update and are actively seeking a solution.

MailDroid serves as an independent mail client supporting Exchange, POP3, and IMAP Idle Push protocols. It is designed from the ground up and does not rely on any stock mail client functionalities.

This version, MailDroid Pro, is devoid of advertisements and offers numerous features that enhance the user experience compared to the free ad-supported version. Support for MailDroid Pro matches that of its free counterpart, accessible via email and not through phone contact.

It is recommended that users download and test the ad-supported version prior to making a purchase decision, as it is available at no cost.

Limitations:

• ActiveSync and calendar functionalities are currently unsupported.
• Any spam subscriptions made through in-app payments in the ad version do not transfer to the Pro version.

Instructions for Transitioning from Ad Version:

1. If both versions (Ad and Pro) are at 4.77, settings will generally transfer automatically. However, it is advisable to back up your settings by exporting them to your SD card from the ad version's settings menu. Make sure to select all options before exporting.
2. The latest versions allow exporting of POP3 emails in MBox format for seamless transitions across MailDroid versions; please note that emails do not transfer automatically at this time.
3. Uninstall the MailDroid Ad version when you choose; it is no longer necessary.
4. Install MailDroid Pro.
5. On the accounts screen, import your settings accordingly: select 'import legacy' for exports from versions prior to 2.90, or select 'import' for versions 2.90 and above.

• MailDroid Pro is more efficient as it does not require additional permissions associated with advertisements.
• The absence of ad files makes MailDroid Pro a smaller application footprint.

• Additionally, bandwidth and data usage are minimized without advertisements.

Enhanced Features in Pro:

• Navigational arrows within emails for easy movement between messages.
• Utilization of volume hardware buttons for message navigation.
• A configurable option post-deletion on whether to return to the inbox or move to previous/next emails.
• Two distinct widgets for customization.
• The ability to switch between three icons when adding a counter widget.
• Expandable notifications offering options for Reply, Reply All, Forward, Delete, and Archive (up to three choices available).
• Further enhancements are anticipated in upcoming updates.
